Umi hotaru is an artificial island lying in the middle of Tokyo Bay. It is the intersection of the bridge and tunnel of the highway called the Tokyo Bay Aqua line. It comprises a rest area with shops, restaurants, amusement facilities, and above all, spectacular views of the Tokyo Bay area.
It has opened in 1997. It has vastly improved the access to the resort areas of Southern Chiba from Tokyo and Kanagawa direction.
